Village Bean

Since 1988 the Village Bean Café has been serving up coffee and by 2023 they seem to have things almost perfected.  There are 22 different types of fair-trade organic beans that you can purchase, but unfortunately for me the only coffee on tap was a dark roast. I dislike reviewing dark roasts because I’m not a huge fan. I would say this one was middle of the road with a robust flavor that didn’t linger for too long. I’m not sure if they will do a French press for you if you ask about sampling something else, but if not, they should.

Some of their roasts include: Kenya AA, Tasmania, Pacific Blend, House Blend, and Breakfast Blend.

I seem to be getting lucky, the cafes that I’ve visited lately have been well above average. Stepping into the café I had some doubts. It is in a strip mall, but don’t let that get in the way of a true coffee experience. There is Wi-Fi as well as some comfortable couches to relax on.

As for points of interest there is Searles Castle which is pretty cool but more of a touristy thing to do. Salem Town Forest has some nice short trails but if you’re looking for something a bit more challenging, check out The Windham Rail Trail. While it’s relatively flat it’s a very nice four mile walk.

Overall, I would rate Village Bean a 4.8 out of 5
