The Vanilla Bean Cafe

A staple of Pomfret Connecticut and a total local gem, this café is open at 8am every day and doesn’t close until 8pm Wednesday-Sunday.  Coke launched Vanilla Coke here in 2002, which is an interesting enough fact to make it the second sentence of my review…that must have been a fun time.

With a combination of art, a fish tank, stained glass, and good conversation, this is a very eclectic café.  Its also one of the few cafes that I’ve ever been to that serves dinner five days a week.

The one issue I have, and I’ve had this happen before, is they serve New England Coffee, a decent coffee to brew at home, but at a true café, I expect better.

The Natchuag State Forest is a ten minute drive away and offers easy hikes as well as a couple very nice camping options at the Peppertree and Charlie Brown Campgrounds.

Overall, I would rate the Vanilla Bean Café a 4.3 out of 5
