The Coffee Bar
Let’s start out with a negative, since everything else is positive. I had stopped by Mocha Joe’s café in Brattleboro and was not impressed with their coffee (it’s not bad, it’s just not as great as I’d expect from a local roaster in Vermont). Today I had the light roast (Kenyan), which is one of my favorite origins. It was better than the medium roast I got in Brattleboro but nothing special.
Now that we have the negative aspect out of the way, let’s run with the positives. Off the bat, they have restrooms, comfortable seating, public Wi-Fi, and a great atmosphere with paintings and even a space for local and distant performers to take the stage.
The Green Mountain National Forest basically surrounds Bennington with the Appalachian Trail running only 5 miles from town, west on route 9. This offers a hike as long as you’d like it. The Appalachian Trail is much tamer in the southern part of Vermont, but go further norther to where the Long Trail splits from the Appalachian Trail and expect much more difficult hikes. If hiking isn’t your thing there are plenty of parks and shops around town to fill your caffeine fueled day!
Overall, I would rate The Coffee Bar a 4.4 out of 5
